Title : Cruise
Author : John David Quartararo (Age:14)
Filename : Cruise.zip
E-mail : jquartar@hotmail.com
Web Page : None (I'm still figuring out Build, let alone
HTML or whatever it is!) If you really want to see
some cool Duke pages, though, go to www.dn3d.com,
www.dukeworld.com,www.gamerscity.com,
or www.geocities.com/~elek/duke.html, the official
page of the incredible user map Dharga!
Note : Atomic Edition (or PP) required and at least a
Pentium to play. (Because of all those dang sprites!)
Description : After destroying all those aliens, Duke decides to
take a vacation. So, he goes on a cruise, when all of
a sudden, the ship crashes into something. Duke makes
his way up to the captain's part of the ship, and
looks on a map. "Ancient mayan civilization", it
says. Duke then hears a scream, and knows something
has invaded the ship through the broken hull, from
whatever is down there.
This level takes place on a cruise ship, complete
with three decks, and then two or three mayan parts,
which take place in ancient civilizations under the
ocean. I spent a long time making this level, so I
hope you like it! (The level looks cool in Build,
too. Go to the mayan areas and look at them in BUILD.
I wouldn't want to do all that work again. If you do
look at it in BUILD, you'll see many areas and
sprites that have no purpose, I just didn't want to
delete them because I didn't know how they were
affecting the level, and if I would ruin anything if
I did delete them.)
Additional Credits to : Bob Wyman, my friend, who first of all, began
teaching me how to use a computer almost 5 years ago, and who
also showed me how awesome Duke3D was, after I had dismissed
it as just another "doom clone." A big thank-you to Brett
Gmoser for his awesome BUILD Help file, MapFaq. Even more
thanks to Robert Travis (Don't worry, Travis, you don't know
me) for his inspiration for the Mayan part of my level. (From
his Aztec level.) Also, the third deck down was strongly
influenced by a level called Cloktowr. I don't know who made
it, but it rocks! My biggest thanks to Elek Mathe for
coaching me through the process of getting a level ready for
Internet release! I really appreciated ther help, Elek, if
you read this.
Other Levels by me : Well, I made two levels before this, Garden and
Jungle, and I sent them to two or three web pages,
but they really aren't that good, (They make no real
use of SEs), so I don't expect anyone two find these
two **early** maps.
Misc. auhor info : Um.. this is my first good map, and this is the
only program I have ever made any kind of level
before. Build is a first for me. What else... I'm
14 years old and love computers.... LOVE getting
E-mail, positive or negative... and won't make
another level for while because I'm doing some
claymation at school.. that's it...

* Play Information *
Episode and Level # : I don't know. It's just a level that leads into the
Launch Facility.
Single Player : Yes
Co-op : Yes
DukeMatch Level : Yes, I made it compatible with DM, and did that
little thing where extra areas open up in
Multiplayer, but the level really isn't designed for
DM. If an DM does occur in Cruise, expect it to be
a bloody one, since I added loads of items. Since
you are reading this, I'llgive you a tip; Look in
the water! TONS of items.
Difficulty Settings : Not implemented, but the level itself is kinda' easy.
I'm going to say sorry for making it easy up front to
calm down all those experts out there who were
expecting this to be a hard level. Even though it's
easy, it's fun, so give it a whirl, would you? :)
Plutonium Pack/Atomic : Required
New Art : No
New Sound : No
New Music : No
New CON Files : No
Demos replaced : No
* Construction *
Base : New level from scratch
Editor(s) used : Let me think...
Known Bugs : Nothing serious. Shoot the sky on the top deck with a
pistol or shotgun, and see the wierd, annoying stuff
I didn't know how to fix. There's also a bug that I
have no idea on how to fix. When you go to the rear
section of the top deck, sometimes weird sound FX
will show up, like a car crash or dog yelping.
Strange! I don't know of any more, so you're on
your own! Also, you can see the bridge from the
inside of the top deck. BUILD bug, not mine!!!
Time Spent on Level : 1 1/2 months. Probably over 90 hours.
*** Where to get this MAP file ***
FTP sites: None I know of

http://www.gamerscity.com. Maybe you'll see it on
http://www.dukeworld.com or http://www.dn3d.com!!!!

Other: If you want it, E-Mail me. I'll send it to you, but if you have this,
then you already have CRUISE!

Inprotant Notes : This level is so good, it's sickening!! ;)
